Currently // month of June

πŸ’— Pinks & Blues πŸ’™
Loving this color combo at the moment! Reminds me of cotton candy, it's fun, and I promise it is not because I am pregnant or wanting to have a baby! πŸ˜‚
  • Little Pullip+ Bohso & Little Dal+ Neiryo ~ I have always wanted to add a full sized Pullip doll to my collection, but it was always out of my budget. So the next best thing I found were these mini dolls on Amazon. At first I was just going to get one, but once I saw Little Dal's facial expression and outfit, I had to get them as a pair!

  • Wet n Wild, Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner (spring collection) ~ LOVE these eyeliners! the colors are vibrant and stays on all day. It is hard to find liquid colored eyeliners that when applied is as vibrant as it is in the bottle.

Illustration Tuesday v2: Fran Meneses aka Frannerd

One of my favorite Illustrators right now has to be Fran Meneses AKA Frannerd! I swear she does it all: Illustrator, Blogger, Vlogger, Writer, Podcast Host, Cat Mama, Traveler, Etsy Shop Owner, Adventurer, Risk Taker, and so much more!

I discovered Fran through one of my friends' Instagram feed a couple of years ago. I was drawn right away to her illustration style and how funny and witty she was with her mini comics! After looking through Fran's feed, I totally had to find out more about this super, cool chick! So, I went through and watched all of her YouTube videos and read all of her blog posts.

I really appreciate how open Fran is with her audience and how she makes her viewers feel like we are a part of her cat gang. She gives such amazing advises on how to be a Freelance Illustrator and what it truly takes to become one. She also produces a variety of other videos: Let's Draw Something, Advice videos, Book/Art Supply reviews, Let's Go Out, Letters to Ed. These videos/posts makes you feel like Fran is just one of your close friends. She takes her viewers along on her adventures as a Chilean who is trying navigate and establish her new life as an illustrator in Europe (currently London, previously Berlin).

She has really inspired me to rethink my current life and to figure out what my own adventures could be! If you love fun, quirky illustrations and videos, you must check out Fran's blog and YouTube Channel! If you end up being a super fan like me, check out her Patreon and show her a little love. She updates it constantly and shares extra secretive, fun stuff!

Beauty Review V1~ Sugarpill Cosmetics

I have recently purchased some new makeup from Sugarpill cosmetics. I have been dying to try their stuff for years especially after seeing their new palette, Sparkle Baby. The Sparkle Baby palette was popping up all over my Instagram feed and I was just so enamored. This palette encompassed everything I love about makeup: Pastel & shimmery colors, beautiful & fun packaging, and the fact that Sugarpill cosmetics were cruelty free was a HUGE plus! Of course I could not just order the palette, I also purchased the Paperdoll loose eyeshadow, the Catmosphere nail lacquer, and a large glitter Pillkitty sticker (which reminded me of the fun girly Junko shirts I had in the 90s!). Below is my review of my first purchase from Sugarpill!

Fashion Friday v2: Cinder + Cyber Punk

For this week's Fashion Friday, I was inspired by Cyber Punk and by the YA novel, Cinder by Marissa Meyer (Book one in the Lunar Chronicles). I do not want to give too much away but the book is set in a futuristic, new Beijing and is about Linh Cinder, a bad ass, cyborg mechanic. The story is a twist on Cinderalla with sprinkles of Sailor Moon elements. The author, Marissa Meyer, is a huge Sailor Moon fan and even use to write Sailor Moon fanfiction! So, you know I had to check it out!

As I was reading the novel, all these fashion inspirations started popping into my head...cyborgs, neon lights, strong futuristic women warriors, space, bright colors, sharp lines, etc. I knew I had to write a post about it! So, enough with the words and on to the photos!

Good Eats v1: Paris Baguette CafΓ© Doraville

I had the pleasure this past weekend to check out Paris Baguette located on Buford Highway in Doraville, Georgia. Paris Baguette is a bakery chain based in South Korea and they have cafΓ©s all over the world. It is known for its many delicious treats and drinks and is rated as one of Korea’s top bakery franchises. The concept of the cafe is a Korean bakery with a french twist.

πŸ’œ Here is my mini review πŸ’œ
  • A great selection of desserts and baked goods especially savory treats! Of all the other Asian cafΓ©s I have visited, Paris Baguette has the most variety of savory baked goods. Such a plus for me since I prefer savory food to sweets.

  • A wide array of drinks! I ordered the iced vanilla latte and it was perfect, not too sweet or bitter!

  • The whole design concept of the cafe is fun and classy! From the coffee cups to the way the servers were dressed, everything was well designed and no detail was left unnoticed. It was very trΓ¨s chic!

  • Has comfortable seating and a nice atmosphere! Perfect for any occasions: dates, hanging out with friends, or just working by yourself.

  • Whatever your budget is, you will find something within your price range. Compared to places like Starbucks, this place is a better deal!

  • Only thing that I would think would be a problem is that the cafe is a bit small. So depending on the time of day, it gets a bit packed and you would need to wait for a spot to open.

In the end, I would give it 4.5 out of 5 pretty cakes! It has to be one of my top favorite Asian cafΓ©s here in Atlanta. And if you live in the OTP, they are opening a new location in Duluth soon! I will definitely do a write up once it opens!

Fashion Friday v1: Summer inspirations

Source: Shirt // Skirt // Hair // Bag // Sneakers // Lips // Drink

I recently got rid of half of my wardrobe!! For quite some time now, I have been in a style funk. Nothing in my closet was inspiring me and the clothes I wore started to feel like a uniform.  I have gotten stuck in the dull routine of wearing a dress + black leggings + a cardigan. It was not because I loved it,  but because I had gained a significant amount of weight and was just so uncomfortable in my new body. The easiest way for me to handle this was just to hide my body.

Fast forward a couple of years, I had lost 40 lbs (I found out the reasons why I had gained so much weight , it a due to Hypothyroid disease, Depression, & PCOS) and started to become more accepting of my body.

As I got better mentally and physically, I wanted to dive back in to my passion for fashion! So I created this series, Fashion Fridays. These posts will showcase some of my current fashion inspirations and document my journey to developing a new personal style.

So here it is my very first Fashion Friday post!! As you can see, it is all about hot, sunny summers and California pastel dreams.

Illustration Tuesday #1 - San Kelly

For my first Illustration Tuesday post, I am featuring my friend, San Kelly, an Atlanta based illustrator! San's work can be described as playful, fun, colorful, and super cute! From mermaid girly girls to space alien hotties, San adds a magical feminine touch to all of her drawings! She has even done a comic called The Adventures of Record Store Girl. As described on her blog, "The plot is about local record store girl, Lillian (who is real and works at Criminal Records!) and her adventures with the record stores she interacts with at work. I do the writing and illustrating, and the concepts are drafted up by the lovely folks at Criminal Records." Magical Girl + music, what more can you ask for?!

I have always admired her style and was super flattered when she did an illustration of me for my birthday. As you can see, I totally had to use it for my blog profile image.

For more information on San and her kawaii life, check out her blog, The Life Pursuit. You can also find her illustrations on her Flickr & Instagram accounts! I promise you will not be disappointed!

Toy Review #1: Bandai Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Sailor V" Moon" Action Figure

One of the things I enjoy doing is collecting cute & fun toys. I do not limit my collection to any genre (comic books, vintage, etc.) but instead focus on collecting toys that tickle my fancy. I love stuff that are detailed, colorful, fun, and cute. For my first blog post series, I am going to periodically review toys/figurines that I add to my evergrowing collection. So here we go!

Bandai Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Sailor V" Moon" Action Figure
I have been eyeing this figurine for a while now and when I saw that it had gone down to $30 on Amazon, I totally had to snatch it up! The figurine is based off the title character in the manga series, Codename Sailor V. As a kid, I loved Sailor V and was excited to see that after 20 years, they have finally released the figurine and a deluxe, English-language manga editions of Codename: Sailor V!

πŸ’œ PROS πŸ’œ
  • Fantastic details! From the paint job to the amount of interchangeable head and hand parts.
  • Love that the hair is made in 3 pieces! It allows you to display her hair as if it is blowing in the wind.
  • It looks like Sailor V. I have seen many figurines that look nothing like the character!
  • Bendable joints, from the head to the feet
  • They give you 2 face mask pieces: 1 for the face and 1 for her to hold.
  • It's a good sized figurine

πŸ’œ CONS πŸ’œ
  • A bit difficult to use the stand since her hair is so wide. I still have not figure out the best way to position the stand around her hair.
  • The ball joint for the hands are super tiny and appears to be a bit flimsy. You need to be careful when changing out the hands or the tiny balls can snap off.
  • I wish she had came with Artemis. When you think of Sailor V, you think of Artemis!

In all, I give this figure 4 out of 5 Sailor V masks! She is the perfect addition to my Sailor Moon collection. I am looking forward to adding more figurines from the Bandai Tamashii Nations Sailor Moon series.

Till next time, Hugs & Venus Love!

Momocon 2016 -- my first cosplay ever! the end of May, I had the pleasure of attending my first Momocon and doing my first cosplay ever, with my friends, AJ & Danielle!

Momocon takes place here in Atlanta and is a 4-day event. It’s geared towards fans of Japanese Anime, American Animation, Comics, Video Games, and Tabletop Games. So basically anyone into geeky stuff!

I dressed up as Reese from Animal Crossing New Leaf. She is the super cute, pink alpaca who runs Re-Tail with your sleepy head husband, Cyrus. I totally fell in love with the character, when I was first introduced to her in Animal Crossing New Leaf. I originally intended to go all out and do the face paint and ears; but due poor time management, I went into a more Lolita direction.

Here is a breakdown of how I obtained my Reese cosplay:
πŸ’œ Pink wig- I got the wig from Amazon. It comes in 3 pieces (main hair & 2 clip on curly pigtails). For the price, the wig did its purpose. It looked really cute on but quality wise, I was shedding like a German Shepard after an hour of wearing it. Plus, I am not a fan of wearing wigs! I get so hot, so quickly that after 10 minutes the fun wears off.

πŸ’œ Reese’s Pink Apron- I purchased the apron from Aria Apparel over on Etsy. This has to be the best apron I ever got! It was so well made, had perfect details, and the seller was so nice! She totally worked with me to make a plus size version. If you need a cosplay apron, I 100% recommend Aria Apparel! I already have an eye on another apron I want to buy for my next cosplay.

πŸ’œ Pink dress- This was purchased on Amazon as well. I was giddy to find that Amazon carried plus size Japanese costumes! This particular dress is part of a Maid Cafe costume. When I saw this dress, I knew I had to have it! It works perfectly with my Reese look. The dress is well made but runs a bit small. I was glad I had ordered a 2x vs a 1x. Remember folks, Asian sizes are way smaller compared to American sizes!

πŸ’œ Black booties & pink ruffle socks- I got these from Amazon too. They looked cute with the look plus they were super cheap. Quality is poor but they did its purpose.

πŸ’œ Necklace & Earrings - I had handmade a cute necklace and a pair of earrings for my cosplay. I got the beads and stuff for it from Hobby Lobby.

In all, I had a blast! It was fun to hang out with my girls and to explore and see all the amazing cosplays! I admire the time and dedication it took for many of the cosplayers to make their looks! It was so inspiring!

Till next time, hugs & kisses 😘

(*Please note: Most of the photos were taken by my friend, Danielle. She is a local Atlanta photographer and has an impressive resume of cosplay photography. If anyone is interested in having their photos taken, check out her website. Also in the mix are photos I had taken on my phone and from my friend, AJ. These photos will have a heart in the lower right corner.)

πŸŽ‰ My 32nd birthday at Lips Atlanta πŸŽ‚

For my birthday this year, a group of ladies and I went to LIPS Atlanta for an "ultimate drag dining experience". As they have described on their website, "Las Vegas style Drag Shows LIVE on the Lips Show Palace stage with Atlanta's TOP Drag Queens!". This place was amazing! This was my second time coming and each time it just gets better. From the Drag Queens to the interior design, no detail was over looked! If you have any excuse to celebrate or just want to have a fabulous time, stop by Lips Atlanta on Buford Highway!
