Toy Review #2 ~ Kaiyodo's Professor Layton Revoltech Action Figure (#086)

Professor Hershel Layton is one of my favorite video game characters! If you are a fan of Nintendo then you probably heard of the Professor Layton games. It is a puzzle adventure game series for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS developed by Level-5. There are six games in the series plus a film which by the way was so cute!

Professor Layton is a world-renowned archaeologist and a well-mannered gentleman who, with the help of his apprentice Luke Triton, is called upon to solve various mysteries in different places.

I have played all six games and was hooked on the concept from the very beginning. It was refreshing to have a main character be such a gentleman and smart! Using his wits instead of violence to solve mysteries.

The illustrations and story lines are also just so beautiful! I love the whole look and style of the series. The amount of attention that was put into the designs of the characters and the world they occupied is amazing.

So when I saw this Professor Layton figure, I had to get it! The figure is a bit pricey, so I waited until my birthday to get him. For me it was totally worth it! He is a lovely addition to my toy collection. πŸ’œ Below is my review! πŸ’œ

Professor Layton Revoltech Action Figure (#086) by Kaiyodo
☕️ PROS ☕️
  • Fantastic details! From the shoe to the top of his top hat, every thing was beautifully replicated. You even get a piece of London’s cobble stone street and cafe chair & table set. Perfect for a gentleman’s tea break!

  • A good amount of interchangeable pieces & accessories! You get every thing that Layton would need: a notebook, a pen, & cups of tea! You also get 2 face plates and several hand gestures! So you can have him do his famous thinking face to having him point to the answer to the puzzle!

  • The interchangeable pieces have a nice, thick rod end compared to other figures which has a ball end. I feel this prevents more accidental breaking of the interchangeable pieces.

  • A good sized figure!

  • Well made and the figure has some weight to it.

  • Adjustable joints and very poseable! Joints are clicky, so they keep their poses.

  • You get an orange container to hold all the extra pieces! More figure companies should start doing that. It helps to keep all the pieces together and prevent any pieces from getting lost.

☕️ CONS ☕️
  • Not a big deal to me, but for some, he is a bit stocky in this design. Compared to his design in the game series which is much taller & leaner. From my readings, this design is based off the film version.

  • The coat gets a bit in the way when trying to do some of Layton's poses. Example: getting him to do his thinking pose.

  • The stand is a bit wobbly.

  • It is a bit pricey.

☕️ BONUS ☕️
Wouldn't a game with Professor Layton & Sailor V be awesome?! A girl can dream...πŸ˜‰πŸ’œ
